USNA Õ63 Mid Term Reunion

January 9, 2011 Status Report

Dear Classmates,

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas, and that 2011 will be another productive and healthy year for you!

Reflect back some fifty or so years agoÉ  Just like the Mids this year, we headed back to ÒMother BancroftÓ after Christmas and New YearÕs, with a victory over Army, and, Òwhat did we have to look forward to?Ó  Snow and ice, exams, and the Òdark agesÓ!  Bet you can still hear the ÒMate of the WatchÓ making his rounds and announcing,

Certainly a lot has changed in these past fifty years or so, but in many ways, much is like it was.  There is blizzard weather all across the nation, and even NYC has difficulty removing the snow and ice.  And, donÕt forget, winter is just starting!

Of course this is exactly why we scheduled our Mid Term Reunion for early spring here in San Diego.  As you are sitting back and relaxing before a warm cozy fire, let your thoughts wanderÉ

We have already had rain here in San Diego!  But the ÒLa NinaÓ weather pattern has promised us a warm, dry springtime!

If you havenÕt decided whether or not to join us at the MTR, then here are a few facts you may want to consider.  Our purpose is to provide an opportunity for Classmates to meet and share each otherÕs company and camaraderie in a convenient, comfortable environment.  While not a pleasant thought, there are seven fewer of us now than there were just one year ago!  Fact is, our opportunities for gatherings like this are now quite limited!

Your MTR Committee has organized an efficient and convenient four days here on the San Diego waterfront.  Very little is required of you except to get here, and enjoy yourself and your Classmates!

At the end of this note is an update of MTR registrations as of Dec 31, 2010.  While we are making progress, we still have quite a ways to go to meet our expectations based upon our survey back in May 2009.  If you responded to the Survey with ÒYesÓ, then we still expect to hear from you soon!

See you in San Diego in March!

Chuck and your MTR Committee
